I apologize for my absence lately, but let me assure you it's been for a good reason. ;) I'll be sharing more photographs of our little guy soon!

Back to some winter portraits today! I photographed our wonderful pastor and his very dear family shortly before Christmas on a really chilly afternoon. The trace of snow on the ground doesn't sufficiently communicate how very cold this day was. But these four were nothing but cheerful and easy-going! I've written this in the past about Ethan & Monique, but it's worth repeating--we are incredibly grateful for these people and the church they shepherd!

Let me start out by saying that this post is so very long-overdue! I took these photographs of Ashley & Tim earlier this summer, but Ashley requested that we wait to post them until their save-the-dates were created and delivered. Totally understandable! Well that time came and went during a very busy season and I'm finally getting around to sharing them. But as the flurries dance and swirl outside my window and we recover from the polar vortex, I'm actually thankful for a little reminder of the lush, green beauty our little town holds during the warmer months. And looking through these photographs again also fills me with excitement for Ashley & Tim's wedding this coming June. These two are such a delight--so down-to-earth, fun, and in love. Thanks so much, Tim & Ashley, for a terrific engagement session last summer and for being so enjoyable to be around & photograph. I'm already looking forward to June!

The week before Christmas, I spent a part of my Friday afternoon photographing our dear friends and their beautiful children. We met in Amish country and, against a stark landscape not too far from Grove City, we created a small collection of family portraits. I really enjoy photographing clients during winter, framing portraits that juxtapose an unforgiving terrain with the warmth and soul of a family. And in this case, drawing attention to a family's vibrance seemed especially fitting. Chris and Christy moved their family here less than two years ago, but they've already fostered an incredible momentum in the arts and vitality of our small community. And to me personally, Christy has quickly become a kindred spirit--I'm so grateful for her honesty, encouragement, and friendship. All that to say, creating these photographs on a cold afternoon a few weeks ago was an absolute joy. Here are a few of my favorites from our time together. Stay warm out there!

I wouldn't ordinarily accept a wedding commission at almost eight months pregnant, but when my friend Sarah approached me about capturing her December wedding, I couldn't bring myself to decline. Sarah is my very dear friend from college and together we possess a storehouse of memories. She filled my college days with endless amusement, conversation, beauty, and creativity; photographing her wedding only seemed natural. And this wedding--it was all things beautiful and celebratory from start to finish! Sarah and Andy, all of your details and decorations were exceptionally curated and crafted, but your palpable love and commitment to one another far exceeded the wedding trappings. Jake and I were honored to preserve the start of your marriage with these photographs--we hope you love them! We can't wait to hear about the island adventures that await you and pray your marriage is steered by our Lord. Much love to you both!
