Interiors: Tribal Chic {Grove City, PA Photography}

I'm excited to post another interiors post. Let me begin with a disclaimer though: this is not my home. I wish it was! We're slowly getting our home to where we like it, but we're just not there yet. We've worked on quite a few rooms, but we can't seem to fully complete one. We always leave something unfinished--be it the quarter round, lighting that doesn't quite match, a missing rug, etc.

This home, on the other hand, was perfect. I had the chance to photograph these lovely rooms for a design consultant in DC last year. Not a single detail of this home was overlooked by my friend Elizabeth. She does absolutely stunning work and these rooms were no exception. She appropriately called this client's home and style 'tribal chic.' As you'll see, Elizabeth pulled the various textures and elements together seamlessly to create a very eclectic, pleasing, and unified environment. Isn't it lovely?   Elizabeth has recently moved to NC, so if you happen to live in the South and need a designer, I know a really talented one;).

I'll be back with another interiors post of my own shortly. We've almost finished our living room! Have a wonderful weekend. -Emily

Vacation at our Swimmin' Pool

We had a wonderful time down in Charleston, SC a few weeks back. Our little W seemed to enjoy the beach breezes and was such a great baby the entire trip.  We got lots of endearing smiles from the little guy. And our sweet L loved the beach. A few days into our trip, she looked out of the beach house window and said "there's my swimmin' pool!"

We didn't take out the camera too much, partly so I could be more fully present and partly because the sand and humidity intimidate me. But we still managed to bring it to the beach a few times and capture some shots I'll treasure for years to come.

Growing {Grove City, PA Family Photography}

This was my second time photographing this sweet and gracious family, and it was such a joy to see them again!  They have a new little baby girl, another little cousin on the way, and plenty of love to share. Here are a few of my favorite shots from our brief time together.  Have a wonderful weekend, everybody!

Camera Love {Grove City, PA Family Photography}

I was both thrilled and nervous when my friend Emily emailed me about a family shoot. Thrilled because Emily is such a sweet soul and a dear friend. Nervous because Emily's appreciation for photography is not limited to the front of the lens. She's normally on the other side of the camera and is a talented lifestyle photographer.  Our interests in photography grew around the same time, in fact, and we've held countless conversations about our shared camera love. So, naturally, I was a bit anxious before our shoot. But I shouldn't have been; Emily set me immediately at ease with her kind smile and warmth.  She and her husband--our old pastor!--were super flexible and up for anything. And their girls? Absolutely amazing. Thank you, E...it was such a pleasure and an honor. Oh, and if you're in the DC area, Emily's site is worth the click: www.emilylargephotography.com.

Home Sweet Home {Grove City, PA Family Photography}

We have finally returned from our travels down South.  Despite the broken AC in our Honda coupled with the dreadful humidity, we had a wonderful and restful vacation. Charleston was as inviting as ever.  Have I mentioned how much I like sweet tea?  Still, it is oh so good to be home in Grove City. The sunny, 75 degree weather eased us back in nicely today.

Anyhow, here is a peek at the first of my DC sessions.  The sun warmed quickly the morning of our shoot, but we had a great time nonetheless. My friend R is an artist and did an excellent job styling her sweet family's outfits.  I think it's safe to say that she and J are among the most curious, intelligent, and hip people I know.  They chose a great location for our time together--with lovely architecture and nature scenes alike, just around the corner from their home

 I have lots to share during the coming weeks, so stay tuned...
