Every Wednesday evening while living in Maryland, Jake and I would head to one of the indoor county pools. After a long day spent teaching our students, we would hop in the cold water to teach some more. But these Wednesday nights were anything but more teaching. In fact, Wednesday evening was a highlight of our week. We looked forward to the time spent with some pretty amazing people like Michael. Michael has a heart of gold and a smile that could cheer up anyone. He also has a really incredible family. So I was of course thrilled when Michael's sweet mom Jennifer messaged me about some portraits. We were so excited to see this wonderful family again! Thank you, Jennifer. You all are a blessing!

Gudrun & Jay {Alexandria, VA Engagement Photography}
Jay knew he wanted to propose to her in an unexpected moment. After all, their love was a bit unexpected; they work for enemy companies in DC--one sues the other. But as Jay thought about Gudrun and the big question, he couldn't quite decide when that perfect, unsuspected moment would be. So he bought the ring, and waited. Waited until everything aligned just perfectly. And align it did one ordinary day in their new condo. Covered with paint, surrounded by sample swatches, pouring love and color into their new place. Right there as they were creating a home, he knew it was the moment when Bob Marley's Is This Love sounded on the radio. He pulled out the ring and proposed that they spend the rest of their days with each other. Together.
Gudrun, you are gorgeous--inside and out. And Jay, you brought your game to this shoot! The way you love and admire Gudrun is beautiful. You two are an absolute delight! Thanks so much for letting me document your love. And thanks for picking a pretty rockin' location for your shoot. Alexandria is perhaps even more photogenic than Charleston (if that's possible). Happy Tuesday, everybody. Thanks for looking;).
Lots more coming your way in the next few weeks. Stay tuned...

Here's Hoping...
We're headed to DC this weekend for six shoots and the forecast is making me a little nervous. But optimistic I remain! I'm hoping and praying I won't be needing these:

The Morning Sun {Grove City, PA Family Photography}
This shoot was like a sweet dream. One gorgeous, expectant mother + one kind, handsome father + one cute, spunky little toddler = my camera's delight! And a beautiful farmyard location with the lovely morning sun. Gah! I haven't shot much in the morning actually, but I really love how the sun plays with my lens and the way the soft light swirls around my subjects. But anyhow. This lovely family has another little girl on the way and I know she is going to be very well loved! Thank you guys for giving me the chance to document this exciting season in your growing family's life. You all were a joy!

Happy Wednesday everyone and, as always, thanks for looking;).

Christine & Bart {Grove City, PA Engagement Photography}
I met Christine and Bart at McConnells Mill for an engagement shoot this past weekend. I enjoy shooting at that location and the weather was just perfect--70s and sunny. I am loving Western PA in the Fall! I had a great time getting to know these two a bit more. They are both accounting majors in the thick of their senior year, which means they're really smart and hardworking. They're also incredibly patient and gracious--they entertained my millions of questions and funny requests (including sitting in my toddler's carseat) during the shoot.
I'm excited to be photographing their wedding in Grove City next June. Congratulations, Christine and Bart! Thanks so much for allowing me to document your love during this special season. Happy Monday, everyone.
